Cancellations, Requests and Inquiries

Can I request a handmade item not found in the boutique?

Unfortunately, Granny’s Apprentice is currently not taking any clothing orders, sun dresses, skirts and the like. What’s in this season’s boutique is all that’s available. If you would like an inquiry on specific colours of something that already exists in the boutique, feel free to contact me. Please be advised that the boutique changes every season, and new items are added to the boutique frequently.

How long will my order take to make?

Granny’s Apprentice can take anywhere from 2 - 14 days to finish your order. With multiple orders and a waitlist, it may take some time before your order is shipped.

How long does it take for products to be delivered to me?

For custom orders and boutique purchases, shipping with Canada Post will take 3 - 9 business days. Due to Covid -19, there may be delays, but we do our best to get your orders to you.

I’ve been put on a waitlist, what does this mean?

Granny’s Apprentice can only make so many orders per month. If you’ve been put on a waitlist, the current crafting period is full, and your order will be fulfilled when spaces open up! Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay for your order until your spot is secured and your order is ready to be crafted. Lookout for e-mails and updates. Once you’ve received your confirmation of order e-mail, your spot has been secured!

Yarn and Products

How do I take care of my handmade product?

Look at the description in the boutique or on your invoice. If it’s made of wool, it’s best to hand wash and air dry the product. If it’s made of acrylic, polyester or cotton, it’s okay to use the washing machine with like colours. It’s best not to dry handmade products in the machine, allow them to air dry for best quality and long life. Never expose acrylic products to heat as they will burn and melt. Any laundry detergent and softener will do just fine.

Washing blankets, or wool products should be done by hand, or in the washing machine on “delicates” to ensure integrity of the product. It is not advised to dry them in the dryer. Hanging them up, or laying them out flat to dry is the best way to care for your products.

FABRICS: Most fabrics are made of 100% premium cotton solids that are very durable and easy to wash in the washing machine and dryer. Air drying does increase the quality and longevity of your handmade products.

What’s the difference between wool and acrylic? What other materials are there?

Acrylic Yarn is a processed, synthetic lightweight yarn. It’s a man-made product. It’s durable, easy to take care and it is machine washable. It's a great alternative for those with wool/cotton allergies. A lot of acrylic yarns are also made without dyes and added elements, so it won’t irritate sensitive skin. Because acrylic yarn is synthetic, it burns/melts. Never expose acrylic products to heat.

Wool Yarn is a heavier natural yarn made from the fleece of sheep and hairs of llama containing its own proteins and lipids. It’s a much higher quality material, and breathes very well. Wool products are not machine washable, and may irritate the skin.

Other yarns include cotton, polyester, alpaca and blends of all the above. Granny’s Apprentice makes sure to list product ingredients on all products in the boutique.
